Nasty Internet Usage

I was having a nice time looking at various template sites, when I must have inadvertently clicked on something I should not have. Lucky for me the alarms were going off. I have Startup Monitor running that alerts me when a program wants to add itself to the Windows Startup. Then I have Ad Watch (part of AdAware Pro) that sits in the system tray and watched for any registry changes. Sure enough, I was getting attacked. I don't know why people insist on using the Internet for their own nasty purposes.

My arsenal to avoid all the nasties includes Spyware Doctor, AVG Antivirus, and Spybot Search & Destroy. I regularly check everything and usually my computer is clean. Today I had a total of 19 infections. I was not amused.

I'm wondering if the companies that provide these spyware and trojan cleaners aren't in fact responsible for them in the first place. It's nice how they're always there with a fix for the latest threat. If somebody could come up with a way to clean up the Internet, imagine all those companies suddenly out of work. It just wouldn't do, would it! Unfortunately there'll always be people who make a living from someone else's misery, the kicker is whether they are responsible for it.
