Good news from the bank today and I spoke to the builder who wants to start in a week or so. My neighbour from down the road called in tonight to offer some assistance moving all the heavy furniture down to their shed, huge and clean, unlike my own. I was relieved to have the offer. It's taken some of the burden off me, and I'm exhausted today, with the weight of all that's been on my mind. Carly and Alex have been packing up their rooms tonight though there's still lots to do. We may have to stay at Mum's sooner than I thought. While the builder is enclosing the front verandah he wants to get the plasterers in to do the two front bedrooms. That means it will take less time than I thought, which is excellent news, possibly only 3 weeks that we'll be at Mum's.
Co-incidentally, the builder's wife rang me this afternoon to have a look at their ADSL connection. No internet again. I was there for a couple of hours fiddling with settings, re-installing the software, on the phone with the ISP. For some unknown reason there was a problem with the DNS. Later tonight we've discovered the Sober Worm is embedded in the computer so perhaps a clean-up will solve the connection issues. The anti-virus can't clean embedded objects, but I may be able to remove the affected files manually. I read up on the worm and all sources say it makes no changes to settings, only affecting e-mail, so I'm not very confident that this is the problem. We'll see tomorrow.
