I've had a hectic week at work. My boss is in Melbourne at a Spatial Information Conference and that's left Sam and me to plod along without him. The work is cool, different to what I've been used to. Today I installed the Business Contact Manager Addon for Microsoft Outlook. There's a chapter devoted just to this in the manual and I poured over it all afternoon. Creating reports using BCM will be part of my new job, so I need to learn how to do it. The Office site has some excellent tutorials and how-tos where I'll be a regular visitor for a while. Visio is another of the Microsoft suite that I played with on Friday. We created a time-line for the 3-year project, that when printed, stretched across half the wall. These are some very powerful software. Those guys at MS are brilliant!
Not that I'm a Microsoft freak. On the other side of the fence, Firefox held my attention for most of last evening. I went through their extension addons and ended up with quite alot of nifty tools from the Mozilla folk. Another bunch of geniuses. Firefox has lots of little addons, including some useful tools for the blogger. The dictionary lookup is especially useful if you're like me and like to know how to spell properly, but the best one is tabbed preferences: control over every possibility.
