Remember...
Illness comes in by mouth...
Ills come out by it.

I've spent the last couple of days trying to sort out problems I'm having with my home network. I bought a wireless access point and network card so I can get my laptop (this) connected and on-line from anywhere in the house and after 2 days both the internet and file-sharing are working. It's been either one or the other that would work, but not both. One of the kids' computers also had one or the other. I've tried every configuration I could think of to get things to work. Although the laptop is working now, my main computer can't see the other computers on the network, nor Carly's. Before it was the internet that wouldn't work but I could browse the other computers. I'm not sure what is left to try. The internet is more important, and the laptop can access the main computer, but it's not the configuration I want. They all used to work until I added the wireless component to the network. That's how I've connected here. I have it disabled on the main computer though. Maybe when I get the other two wireless cards it will all work correctly. I have my fingers crossed.
I've been reading about wired and wireless networks in my travels, and theoretically the setup should work. I have a hub that the cables go into, the wireless access point is plugged in there, and the dsl/modem is connected to the main computer via the usb connection. I have an internet gateway that comes up on the laptop which is fine if that what it takes to connect. I put the same setup on Carly's computer, and now using the same disk for the main computer. Now Carly can't connect to the internet, and I still can't access other networks. It's driving me crazy.
