Networking Problems Overcome

|

The best way to have a friend is to be oneThis morning I fixed the networking problem that's had me bamboozled for the last few days. I changed the node type to mixed, putting in the same settings that were on the laptop. I'd read the same posts over and over to try something I may have missed, and although I'd read the tip before, I thought I could get things to work without installing another protocol. I added the IPX/SPX/NetBIOS compatible Transport-Layer protocol. I read that IPX is the Network-Layer protocol, and since it was a network issue and nothing else worked, I took a shot. After a reboot I had all the computers in the workgroup in Network Neighbourhood, file and internet sharing are all working properly.

Tonight I'm sitting in the lounge-room with Alex and we're watching Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory on TV and I'm tapping away on the laptop on-line. Normally I'd be squirreled away in my bedroom all night.
