Remember...
When wings are grown...
Birds and children fly away.

The last couple of days have been hectic at work. I've been given the responsibility of the Development Applications. That means accepting them as they're brought in, processing them, and following the progress so I can field questions throughout the process. It's a whole new learning curve but I'm up for the challenge and looking forward to knowing all about it. The fees will take a while to learn, there's so many charges and levies that apply to different applications, based primarily on the total cost of the development.
Our Building Surveyor is leaving just when I've worked out his writing and what he's saying on the tapes I type up. He's been great to work with, a mine of information who loves to explain why we do things at Council the way we do. I've learned much from him
I'm designing an internal website at work for staff to be able to quickly find the forms and paperwork they regularly need. I've been trying to use the NetObjects Fusion software, but I would prefer to be hand-coding it. The program produces nice websites, but doesn't give you full control over things, for instance, forms. An addon that costs more dollars. Same for a contact form. Enter the code directly into the HTML and it's not visible in the GUI or page preview, though it's in the web preview. Not overly impressed with it, but perhaps will change my mind as I use it more. I'm still stumbling around in it.
I've been going through the uniform catalog from work and am shocked at the prices. Any wonder office workers look so nice in suits, they've paid a fortune to look like that!! Thank God there's a first time pack that works out good value, even better when you consider that Council will go you halves up to a point. Also a huge relief. I figure they're not going to let me go in December when the job comes up for review again after teaching me all the procedures. I think I've managed to impress them enough to keep me on and I love the whole "working" bit.
