At a Loss

carly_6-2-06.jpgI'm feeling a bit slack with my lack of posts lately. It seems like every time I open a new entry I get a mental blank and can't think what to write about. Even to a title: I'm at a loss. Work has been busy and the days feel long and I get home at night and don't want to do a thing. But even then there's plently to do: the food to prepare, the washing that doesn't do itself, and a million other things. I'm feeling the pressure of being a single parent and working full-time.

Carly went away to Wollongong on the weekend to play in the State Cup for touch footy. I picked her up from the bus in Wagga on Sunday night and it was midnight before we got home. She was exhausted, but we all had to be up bright and early Monday morning. Everyone's tired and me most of all. Carly and Alex's fighting is getting me down and it started again as soon as Carly got in the car on Sunday night. It had been such a peaceful weekend. She had a great time in Wollongong. Their team played 6 games straight without having a point scored against them, and the team that put them out went on to win the cup. They did really well. Carly played touch football tonight in our local comp and they won. Finals begin next week and they're a good chance to win.

alex_4-2-06.jpgThe kids had a great time when we went to Queensland too and are getting into the swing of things now they are back at school. There's been permission notes galore coming home and homework getting done. Excursions and sports events coming up. Life is busy for everyone.

We've got a new Building Surveyor, Graham, starting at work in 3 weeks and I met him today. James took Neil, Graham and myself to lunch at the Licorice Factory. It was excellent. The food was nice, there were two guys playing guitar, and we got to learn more about Graham. He seems like a nice bloke and I'm looking forward to working with him. I'll be doing all his typing (though he's used to doing his own), and I'll teach him how to use Authority, the software package we use at Council. In the meantime I have to learn how to do the Business Paper each month. It's a huge report that goes to the Council meetings from all the departments. I have to chase people for reports and meet a deadline so it could be a stressful few weeks coming up. By the third go I should have it down pat, so although I'm not looking forward to doing it, I'm looking forward to learning how to do it.
