Remember...
If you hurry through long days...
You will hurry through short years.
Master Chen Hai Yang

It's Sunday morning and I woke up realising I should have set the clock back 1 hour with the end of daylight saving in Australia. It's been all very confusing, because traditionally, daylight saving always ends on the last Saturday in March, but because Australia has just hosted the Commonwealth Games, daylight saving continued for an extra week. From now on we'll be getting up an hour earlier and it'll get colder and colder. Winter is not my favourite time of the year and I'm looking forward to next summer already.

image003.gifAlex had a birthday party yesterday and 3 of his friends slept over. We went to Wagga and spent the afternoon at the skate park, then watched a movie and had KFC before coming home. Then, as if they didn't have enough, the kids wanted to go the skate park here. Luckily our skate park is directly across the road from a hotel, so while they were skating, I had a beer and decided to put $5 in a poker machine. Before I finished my beer, the $5 turned into $40, and I was out of there with the money, collected all the kids and we went home. They settled down to watch a skate-boarding movie. I went to bed and watched "Boogeyman", a new release DVD, supposedly very scary, but really it wasn't. This morning all the kids have gone off to the skate park again. Wouldn't it be wonderful to be 10 again and not have a worry in the world.

The hosting for my Junee Magic website was due for renewal soon and I had to come up with $171 AU for 12 months, so I did a search to find something cheaper. I came across a plan that gave me 2.5g of space instead of the 200mb my old host was offering for $108 and signed up for it. Then I informed the old host and got an email from them warning me off the new hosting provider. That got the alarm bells ringing and after another search concerning the new host I found some forum posts that were a little disconcerting. So far I haven't had any problems myself, everything is going smoothly, and after doing a whois search I noticed that my old host was hosting 64 other sites from my old ip address, and with the new one I am sharing the ip address with another 28 sites. Time will tell whether I made the right choice. The biggest difference is that the old ip address was hosted from within Australia, the new hosts are based in America. For the $60 saving (which for me is groceries for a week) I just hope I've made the right decision.
