Remember...
Of a dead leopard we keep his skin...
Of a man his reputation.

It's Sunday morning and I'm enjoying the quiet with no kids around. They slept at their father's house last night and I enjoyed the peace. Once they're home the house will once again be noisy and messy. The joys of parenthood. I asked Carly yesterday when I was dropping her at her dad's if she and Alex fight and scream there like they do at home. She said they didn't. I'm wondering is it's me?
I've had a bit of computer work the last few day, though unpaid, and tomorrow I plan I refreshing a site for a friend that I made over a year ago. That work will be paid. I'm not sure yet what it is he wants: new photos uploaded and others removed and probably update the content somewhat. I'd love to redo the whole site but I don't know that he wants to go that far. We'll see tomorrow.
All's well on the home front. Lauren, Daniel and Zeke are a happy little family. Zeke is a year old on June 24 so there'll definately be some new photos to upload. Lauren is very trigger-happy when it comes to using a camera. They've been busy removing trees in their backyard and it's so much better now. It won't be long and Zeke will be out the back playing on his own.
Kai and Emily are both busy working. I don't see as much of them (maybe fortnightly instead of weekly). Kai is an avid golfer and plays most weekends. Emily visits Lauren a lot and I'm sure she'd love to start her own family but with work and financial commitments that probably won't be any time soon. I should invite them all over for a baked chicken tonight. I have one thawing.
It's the June Long Weekend and I took an RDO on Friday to make mine extra long. We had rain yesterday, the first decent rain since the fires in January and it was so nice to hear it pouring down. I have a tin roof and I love to listen to the rain when I go to bed. It's been a while!!
I'm expecting Dad to ring soon. He rings me every Sunday morning from Kirra where he has an on-site van in a caravan park not far from the beach. It's a beautiful spot. He hasn't been well lately and last week he sounded quite low and it's a worry with him being so far away. I have a special bank account set aside for emergencies, and it's ear-marked for a quick plane trip to Queensland if necessary. I'm hoping we can visit in the September school holidays. We'll see how far the finances can stretch. It's still really cold here in September and some Queensland sunshine will be more than welcome then. Carly and Alex would love it.
I was looking through some of the daily photos from 1999 at Webshots and discovered a few timeless gems. These make beautiful desktop wallpapers, and my thrill each day when I turn on the computer each day is to see which random photo I have up.
