Making the Most of the Last Few Days of School Holidays

|

We're not long home from football and Alex is having a nice, long, hot bath. It rained all night and I wasn't sure that footy would be on so I raced down there 15 minutes before he had to play and sure enough, everyone was there with their gumboots and umbrellas. Carly had more sense than us and decided to stay home. After footy we got back home and Carly is perched up in bed with the laptop. The perfect day for it. The boys won the football easily, but they were all wet and covered in mud and anxious to get home to hot showers.

Alex - the Skate Comp champion

Yesterday they held a skate comp in Junee and Alex won prizes in both the scooter and bmx sections. I went down to watch and was pleased with the number of kids there. The weather was great and there were quite a few parents there watching the fun. Nikki had lots of great prizes and Alex came away with a KREW t-shirt and beanie. He hurt his knee at some stage and it gave him a bit of trouble today at football.

Last night I took Carly, Alex, and Carly's friend Keely to the movies in Wagga to see Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. It was great. There's just something about watching a movie on the big screen. Good to know too that there will be a third one. I just love Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, he's one of my favourite actors. Although we all filled up on popcorn and Maltesers, we went to McDonald's on the way home. I needed a coffee badly, but the dishwater they serve as coffee at Maccas made me wish I'd waited until we got home. A rather expensive night out in Wagga but good just the same.

Tomorrow night I plan on having the baked chook I didn't get around to cooking a couple of weeks ago (not the same chook). Emily and Kai and Lauren and Daniel are all coming over so it will be a nice family get-together.

Yesterday morning I downloaded the software to complete my tax return online and had it all done in about half an hour. It's estimated that I'll get about $2,600 back so we might get to Queensland at Christmas after all. The four new tyres I need for the car won't be such a burden on the finances either. Good News!!!

He who works with his hands is a laborer.

He who works with his hands and his head is a craftsman.

He who works with his hands and his head and his heart is an artist.
