No Time To Scratch Myself

|

Once again we've had another busy week in the Hambilton household. Yesterday we went to Cootamundra for the football and Alex's team played two games. They won the first 60-0 and the second 52-0. Disappointing for the Coota boys but our boys were over the moon. Alex scored a try and kicked a couple of goals and was very pleased with himself.

While we were in Coota I did some shopping and bought a new pair of jeans and a jumper, something I rarely do, and bought a new Kodak EasyShare zoom camera. Alex dropped our old digital camera (though he swears it wasn't him: the "I didn't do it boy"), and cracked the lens so it's useless. The new one I got for $180, marked down from $299 so it seemed like a bargain. I'm having a few problems with the batteries though, they seem to be leaking, even the spare rechargable ones I had for the old camera. I'm not sure what the problem is there.

Last night Carly went to a party down the road. Her friend Keely turned 13 during the week and they had a party for her. Two of Carly's friends slept here and we had Keely's younger brother for the night. Carly is harrassing me to buy her a new pair of shoes so we're off to Wagga shortly. The running around never ends.

Work was frustrating last week. I had a few tricky little jobs to do and I spent alot of time fiddling with templates to implement some new information into the forms. By Friday afternoon I felt I had actually done something. Working with formulas in excel spreadsheets turned out to be another tricky job. They're great, but you have to know what you're doing, and for me it's all trial and error. In the end we got the form to do what we wanted, but I'll never understand the mechanics behind it.

On Wednesday night we all went to Wagga to celebrate Aileen's 40th birthday and had a top night out. We went to Golden Seasons, an all-you-can-eat restaurant, and all made several trips to the buffet. Lots of family turned up and there were 19 of us (including Zeke). Later we went back to David's place for coffee. It was nice, with everyone smiling and enjoying themselves, a nice change from the last few times we've gotten together.

I have less than a year now to give up smoking, I promised the kids I'd give up before I turn 50. The count-down has begun.

How many legs?

How many legs?

Random Quote

If I Knew

If I knew it would be the last time

That I'd see you fall asleep,

I would tuck you in more tightly

and pray the Lord, your soul to keep.

If I knew it would be the last time

that I see you walk out the door,

I would give you a hug and kiss

and call you back for one more.

If I knew it would be the last time

I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,

I would video tape each action and word,

so I could play them back day after day.

If I knew it would be the last time,

I could spare an extra minute

to stop and say "I love you,"

instead of assuming you would KNOW I do.

If I knew it would be the last time

I would be there to share your day,

Well I'm sure you'll have so many more,

so I can let just this one slip away.

For surely there's always tomorrow

to make up for an oversight,

and we always get a second chance

to make everything just right.

There will always be another day

to say "I love you,"

And certainly there's another chance

to say our "Anything I can do?"

But just in case I might be wrong,

and today is all I get,

I'd like to say how much I love you

and I hope you never forget.

Tomorrow is not promised to anyone,

young or old alike,

And today may be the last chance

you get to hold your loved one tight.

So if you're waiting for tomorrow,

why not do it today?

For if tomorrow never comes,

you'll surely regret the day,

That you didn't take that extra time

for a smile, a hug, or a kiss

and you were too busy to grant someone,

what turned out to be their one last wish.

So hold your loved ones close today,

and whisper in their ear,

Tell them how much you love them

and that you'll always hold them dear

Take time to say "I'm sorry,"

"Please forgive me," "Thank you," or "It's okay."

And if tomorrow never comes,

you'll have no regrets about today.
