Remember...
Water floats a ship...
Water sinks a ship.
Master Chen Hai Yang
I've had a quiet couple of days on the blog scene. I'm still having problems with the hosting server going down and haven't been able to access my site for hours at a time. I'd like an easy way to view how often the site is down, then I could give those hosting providers an earful with some backup stats. There's monitors for servers running NT/IIS, but mine is on a Linux server with no shell access. I eventually used their Live Chat service, which is another term for a contact form, and got an automated response nearly straight away.
We apologies for this incident, the problem has re surface and we have decided to replace to a new technician and server host. Please be patient for a while longer. This is a problem with the data centre. 27Hosting is working to get this sorted as fast as possible.
That was yesterday. Today I received this:
Recently we have been experiencing difficulties with server IP 64.34.171.17. 27Hosting are working with its Data Centre partner to verify and resolve the problem. Currently the server is online and operation fine. We apologies for the delay and frustration that it may have caused you.
And later tonight, this:
Recently you may be aware of some difficulties with our servers. We wish to inform you that 27hosting.com is undertaking consultation by our partner Data Centre to upgrade our servers. We anticipate this may take several days to complete, we hope you can bear with us for the time being until we have the server fully upgraded. In the mean time you still will be able to access your site and other features, please be aware that you may still encounter some minor server problems until the upgrade is complete. You will be notified of the progress and we do apologies for the delay and inconvenience this may have caused you.
I don't think my problems are going away just yet judging from the last email. In my original email, I said that an explanation would be nice and I've had 3 emails since then. You see, you only have to ask nicely and you get things done. I'll reserve my judgement about the poor quality service until I see how quickly these server problems can be resolved. Tonight I can get into this site, and I'm happy about that.
