My To-Do List Is Growing Longer

Remember...
"The man who views the world at 50 the same as he did at 20 has wasted 30 years of his life."
--Muhammad Ali

It's Sunday morning and a beautiful day. More like Spring rather than the heat of Summer that we had all last week. I spent the last hour in the garden pulling out the weeds and the winter blooms that have finished. I always have a good sense of achievement after working in the garden. There's something about it.

I bought a new air-conditioner yesterday so that when the 50 degree days hit us we'll be comfortable at home. There's nothing worse that feeling overwhelmed in summer heat. Even the air-conditioning in the car is working well this year. It probably needs a service because last summer it kept cutting out on us. It's still doing it, but not as often. It's having the time. The car needs to be dropped somewhere for the day, usually in Wagga, and working full-time doesn't allow much time for jobs like that. I've had the car back twice to the stereo place where I had a CD player fitted and it's still not working properly. I had no tail-lights or dash-lights prior to taking it back last time, and they fixed that, but the music cuts out occasionally and it takes a long time for it to come back. I think the problem is in the speaker wires, but it's all concealed in a sheath and not easy to get at. Another job that needs doing. One of these days I'll have to drop the car in to the panel beater too. I hit a hare on the way home on the night of Graham's funeral and all the front of the car is broken. It's fibreglass and I think it can be glued, but at the moment it's duct-taped, and that will have to do for now until I get around to getting it fixed properly. Carly has a broken louvre that I have to get replaced too. If they'd stop climbing in the window and remember their keys, I wouldn't have this problem either. So many chores... and so little free time.

cute_roly.jpgWith Christmas sneaking up on us there's the little matter of money too. At this time of year there just isn't enough to do all those things that need doing. One thing at a time, we're getting there. This image has nothing to do with this post, I just thought it was so cute. These dogs are gorgeous and you don't see them in the flesh often. I love that toilet paper ad on TV that features Roly, a pup similar to these. There'll be no Xmas presents like these fellows though. Every pet we have: a fish, a dog and a cat - I end up having to feed and clean up after.

I have less than a year now to give up smoking, I promised the kids I'd give up before I turn 50. The count-down has begun.
