No More Laying In on Saturdays

cricket.gifGoodbye footy season, hello cricket season. There goes my whole Saturday again. The mornings off has been nice and I've thoroughly enjoyed it, but alas, they're gone now. Saturday afternoons are touch football in Wagga and today Carly has to play two games, so we'll be there until 6pm tonight.

I signed Alex up for cricket this morning and today we're off to Wagga to pick up a cricket set that I put on lay-by a couple of weeks ago. There's no helmet in the set, and of course, he wants one. I hate taking the kids to Wagga because they hound me to buy them everything they see. With Christmas coming the purse strings have drawn tight. I've put my name down to help out either with the canteen or scoring and that should make the mornings less boring. I'm not the greatest cricket fan, but if it keeps the kids off the street then it's the way to go.

"Wagga" is such an interesting name.

Doesn't Cricket sometimes drag on and on? Sort of like that first year of kid's baseball when the kids are actually pitching to one another (as opposed to hitting off a tee or having coaches pitch.)

As much as I love my boys, those games could be unbearably long. Not to mention hard to watch as it wasn't uncommone for every other batter to get hit by a pitched ball.

I have almost no idea what's going on when my kids play soccer (they seem to know) but the games are a lot more interesting to watch.

(I'm not trying to 'poo poo' on Cricket. I'm just tyring to let you know that I feel your pain. (If there's any pain to feel.))

Wagga is the shortened form. It's actually Wagga Wagga and is an Aboriginal word meaning "Place of many crows". But it's really a place of many magpies.
