A clear conscience sleeps during thunder.

I had a computer sitting here in my bedroom for a week that I had to fix for a friend and I was sure I couldn't get the printer to work. It had a bulk ink system installed and after that the computer wouldn't recognise the printer and couldn't communicate. I tried everything at my friend's house and ended up bringing it home. After I cleaned up all the spyware and deleted a few unnecessary users, I had a closer look at the printer and read all the instructions for installing the bulk ink system. It turned out to be something so simple I can't believe I didn't notice it the first time I tried to get it working. A velcro strip used to attach the ink supply lines was positioned too far down on the inside of the printer, causing the print head to only move to the middle and not across the whole length of the inside. I moved the velcro up and it worked. They all think I'm a genius when it comes to computers, but most of the time it's some little thing that others have overlooked.
Work was a pain today, and I had a most unproductive day. We use the Civica Authority software at work to run most of the Council services, and from it you can generate templates that fill in MS Word with all the information from the Authority database. Normally I have no problem using it, but for some reason, today it just wouldn't work for me, and the problem was specific to only my computer. Talk about frustrating. I had Development Approvals to generate and had to sit at another computer to do it, running back to my own computer to check things. Council's IT manager was there today so he managed to sort the problem out late this afternoon. Thank God!!
At lunchtime when I got home the fellow was there to fix our air-conditioner, which won't blow cold air, and I need a part replaced and the unit re-gassed. More expense. Then another friend came and while he was there I got him to look at our leaking sink in the kitchen. So many things going wrong around the place at the moment, but slowly we're getting everything fixed. I have a new set of back stairs, and Alex replaced the flyscreen on the back door yesterday. The kitchen sink is now fixed and soon the air-conditioner will be fixed too. And the house is actually clean! Amazing, considering it's still school holidays and Alex and his friends are notorious for trashing the house. Carly has been great keeping the house clean, but she expects to be paid to do it.
Tonight we've got Graham's eldest daughter staying with us for the night. Amy is 6 months older than Carly and they're great friends so tonight they're catching up. The other girls are staying with Mum for a few days and Amy will go back up there tomorrow.
