I tried to view three of my weblogs this morning, this one, The Playground and Spitting Into the Wind. All sites showed me the Internal Server Error 500 page. I was able to log in to MT and from there I did a rebuild on all the sites and after that was able to view each weblog.
Still scratching my head over what the problem could be, I checked out the server error log on my CPanel, and found line after line of error: file is writable by others. I can't understand how this could be. I certainly hadn't changed the permissions on any of my files, and checked all the file permissions using an FTP program, and they're all rw-r-r (0644), writable only by me.
When I first upgraded to MT 3.2 I had this problem and it was definately a permissions error. I found a post on the Movable Type Forum that solved it with this fix:
I have the following block of code in my mt-config.cgi:
HTMLUmask 0022 UploadUmask 0022 DirUmask 0022 HTMLPerms 0644 UploadPerms 0644
Today, that wasn't the problem, and I'm still not sure what is. I'm wondering if there is a way for somebody to hack my pages, and to change my permissions.
One other thing I noticed when I got the 500 Internal Error page was that all my weblogs are using the error pages I created for Toni's Corner of the World. There's no links on the pages specific to my other weblogs. Something I need to look into.

I have less than a year now to give up smoking, I promised the kids I'd give up before I turn 50. The count-down has begun.
