This is my lovely daughter, Carly, a photo I found among her collection and doctored slightly for myself. She's beautiful, and good to her mother!
Lately Carly has been great around the house. When she wants money I tell her she has to earn it, and she always says, "but I do what you tell me". I told her I'd like her to do things without me having to tell her. "Use your eyes, if you see something that needs doing, then do it."
I'm a single parent and I work full time so it's not unusual that I'm hanging out the washing around midnight some nights, and grabbing it off the line before work or in my lunch break. It seems there's not enough hours in the day (especially for my passions, which include reading, blogging, web design, and pouring over code).
The last couple of weeks I've come home and noticed the dishes have been washed, the lounge-room is tidy, or the washing has been brought in or folded. It's such a nice feeling to see I have a little help around the house. Alex is an entirely different story and I need to go to work on him next!
