Email Troubles

For the last week I've been having problems with Incredimail, an email client with pretty cool features, that I've been using for years and loving it. Every day, or every time I rebooted the computer, the program kept telling me I didn't have the Junk Mail filter installed. Well it's been working well all this time until now, so every day I would reinstall it, shut down, and it's gone again. I finally decided to uninstall Incredimail, except I wanted to export the 6 years worth of emails that I have, only to find there's no easy way to do it.

Then I discovered a little-known tool called IncrediConvert, that will convert all the emails to files compatible with Outlook Express, with an .eml extension. It worked brilliantly, saving all my files into folders similarly named to those that I had set up in Incredimail. From there, I could create folders in Outlook, and drag the contents of the saved folders into Outlook and I have all my emails moved across. Exporting the contact list from Incredimail to a .cvs format enabled me to import them into Outlook Express pretty easily.

It took a while to do, but I now have Outlook set up properly. The one thing that was really annoying me was MSN. Every time I opened Outlook Express, I had the contact list loading up with all Carly's contacts, and her MSN buddies. MSN kept wanting me to sign in, or automatically signing in, so I found a registry tweak that will disassociate Outlook Express from MSN.

Now I just need a decent junk mail filter in Outlook Express. I've tried using the message rule filter, and adding lots of words to junk. For every real email I'm getting about 8 that are spam. It's driving me nuts.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

"The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, nor the kindly smile, nor the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when he discovers that someone else believes in him and is willing to trust him with his friendship."

:: (1803-1882) American Poet, Essayist
