MT 4 Rocks

I got excited last night when I read about the release of Movable Type version 4 (albeit Beta). Yes, I know, it's sad that's the sort of thing that gets me excited these days. Anyway, I created a new subdirectory on another site just so I could start to use the beta release, and perhaps even help out in the testing phase. The install was easy and I had the new version up and running within 2 hours. The slow part was uploading all the files via FTP. The new interface is great. Black and Blue, and it stretches to give a much wider input area than in previous versions. There's a cool dashboard, though finding where everything is will take some getting used to. There's lots more user options that I haven't had time to properly look at yet, and a nice default style that, thank God, looks so much better than the old default MT look.

Jesse Gardner wrote a nice article on MT 4 that I'm even more excited about. I can't wait for the official release to start using some of the features in 4.1 that Jesse hinted of. I was worried that Six Apart planned to charge for the new version but was relieved after reading Jesse's post. It'll still be free for us little people!
