Football Over for Another Year

Alex and Daniel

It was a miserable day in Tumut for the quarter final of the Junior Rugby League, foggy, raining and cold. Our boys played against Tumut and lost 30 - 22. The were behind from the start and made a good effort to get on top, but Tumut was the better team on the day. This is the first time for years that we've been out of the comp so early in the finals, and every other year have made it to the grand final. Alex told me he's not playing again next year but we'll see. He limped off with a swollen foot and knee and said on the way home that he was glad it was all over. The older they get, the bigger they get, and the more it hurts.

Cold, Foggy, Rainy and awful for football

Jean Vanier

"We who are rich are often demanding and difficult. We shut ourselves up in our apartments and may even use a watchdog to defend our property. Poor people, of course, have nothing to defend and often share the little they have.

When people have all the material things they need, they seem not to need each other. They are self-sufficient. There is no interdependence. There is no love. In a poor community, however, there is often a lot of mutual help and sharing of goods, as well as help from outside. Poverty can even become a cement of unity."
