Loving You

When God created daughters

He took very special care

To find the precious treasures

That would make them sweet and fair...


He gave them smiles of angels,

Then explored the midnight skies

And took a bit of stardust

To make bright and twinkling eyes...


He fashioned them from sugar

And a little bit of spice,

He gave them sunny laughter

And everything that's nice...


He smiled when he made daughters,

Because he knew he had

Created love and happiness

For every Mum and Dad.

I cannot promise you that I will not have many different moods

I cannot promise you that I will not hurt your feelings sometimes

I cannot promise you that I will not be erratic

I cannot promise you that I will always be strong

I cannot promise you that my faults will not show

But --

I do promise you that I will always be supportive of you

I do promise you that I will share all my thoughts and feelings with you

I do promise you that I will give you freedom to be yourself

I do promise you that I will try to understand everything that you do

I do promise you that I will be completely honest with you

I do promise you that I will laugh and cry with you

I do promise you that I will help you achieve all your goals

But most of all --

I do promise you that I love you

Once, I was afraid I'd never find someone

To really care about.

I wanted someone perfect,

At least for me.


A special kind of talking, an honest way of listening;

No being afraid to laugh or cry;

Kindness and understanding; fun and excitement;

Someone who would lift my heart with joy.


I guess I expected a lot, but I'm a believer!

And I believed that someday;

Someone's particular magic;

Would transform my life.


So, in spite of all the waiting, all the loneliness,

All the almost-giving-up,

It's been worth it;

It's all been worthwhile.


And wishes really do come true,

Because what I always wanted

Isn't a dream -- it's you.

My ideal friend is someone who knows me better than anyone else;

A person I long to be with, and someone who lets me know that I'm never alone.

My ideal friend is someone I will fight for and believe in - as much as I will for myself;

A friend I love to laugh with and run after rainbows with...

Someone whose spirit is an uplifting present, and whose smile makes me happy and means so much to me.

My ideal friend is someone I'm thankful for with every grateful feeling inside of me.

My dear and precious friend; it's true: the best friend there could ever be... is you.

Whenever you're away from me,

I never feel quite as happy

Or quite as satisfied

With the way things are going.

I know that

An essential part of my life

Is missing,

And nothing else

Can take your place.


When you read this,

You won't have to wonder

What I am doing,

Because you'll know

I'm here,

Thinking about you

And just waiting

To see your smile again.

To tell you that I believe you are

One of the best people around,

And someone who, without a doubt,

Deserves to be happy in your pursuits

And successful in your efforts.

I know that things don't always go as planned...

And plans don't always work out

As soon as they should.

But -- because you are the great person that you are --

I know that your hopes will eventually

Come true for you.

In the meantime... if you ever need any cheering up,

Or any words of encouragement,

All you have to do is let me know what you need,

You've helped me to find a special

Outlook on life that was hiding deep inside of me...

Waiting just for someone like you

To open the door and set it free.


You mean so much to me

For you've been there through the good times and the bad,

Drying the tears and holding back the loneliness

Giving me a friendly shoulder to cry on

And enough smiles to last a lifetime.


You mean so much to me

And I can't help but feel as though I owe you so much more than I can ever repay.

But if there's a way... any way to hold and to help

To provide for and to encourage

To give even a part of what you have blessed me with

I will be there for you.


And whenever time may take us

And wherever we may be

I always want you to remember how much you mean to me.
