Installing MT 3.3

This is my first entry using the new version 3.3 of Movable Type. I'm installing on a different webserver to my MT 3.2 install so as not to break the numerous plugins I've added. The templates, too, are slightly different. So... a new server, a new version of MT, and a new weblog.

The install was simple. After viewing the mt-check.cgi file I was disappointed to note that a couple of the optional modules were not installed on the server, namely Image::Magick, needed to be able to create thumbnails of uploaded images, and Crypt::DSA, a module to make comment registration sign-ins faster. Since I'm using a hosted site it will require contacting them to see if they can install these modules. The other web hosting server I use doesn't have these installed either.

The 3.3 user interface is slightly different, with a new Tags section. I'm not sure yet how to use this so I'll have to read the manual that I downloaded from Six Apart.

Widgets is also a new feature in this install that I don't know much about. Alot of the plugins that I had installed on my MT 3.2 version will no longer work, especially those relying on the BigPAPI plugin. Since I rely heavily the plugins from Movalog, I'm eagerly awaiting the re-writes for them. LivePreview is one that I've found I can't live without. Enhanced Entry Editing, Blogroll, Inline Editor and Power Rebuild are others that don't work in 3.3.
