Australia Day

Carly and Alex are both at the pool today, everything is free and there's lots of fun things to do there. Carly is planning on a game of 5-aside netball: last year she won lots of prizes in the activities at the pool and she's keen to do the same this year. So will Alex be keen but he may not be as lucky.

There's a free sausage sizzle for lunch and I'm meeting my sister-in-law and her kids. Should be a good day. For now I'm doing all those mundane household chores that don't go away. Washing and folding, washing floors, and enjoying the new air-conditioning that got installed yesterday. It's wonderful, we've been having heat-wave weather since the New Year when the huge bushfires raged around us.

Tuesday we're driving to Queensland for a week where my eldest daughter Emily is getting married on the Gold Coast. It's all very exciting. I bought a converter for the laptop to plug into the car so the kids can watch DVDs on the way up there. It's a 12-hour-plus drive but we'll take our time and stay overnight somewhere. My mum is coming with us so she will be able to share the driving. I have the car booked in for a service on Monday, and would like to get the tyres rotated, but I'm running out of time for all that. When we get back home the car is due for rego, so I'm hoping I'll have some money left.
