Australia Day

Carly and Alex are both at the pool today, everything is free and there's lots of fun things to do there. Carly is planning on a game of 5-aside netball: last year she won lots of prizes in the activities at the pool and she's keen to do the same this year. So will Alex be keen but he may not be as lucky.

There's a free sausage sizzle for lunch and I'm meeting my sister-in-law and her kids. Should be a good day. For now I'm doing all those mundane household chores that don't go away. Washing and folding, washing floors, and enjoying the new air-conditioning that got installed yesterday. It's wonderful, we've been having heat-wave weather since the New Year when the huge bushfires raged around us.

It's A Good Life

Isn't it nice to say how wonderful life is! I know there's been plenty of times in my life when I have wished it would end, or couldn't think things could be worse, but this Christmas has been one of the best. I had the whole family around and we all ate, drank and were merry!

We went through old photo albums that brought back lots of memories (some things I'd sooner have forgotten), but Emily and Lauren (my two older girls) were very young in some of the photos and enjoyed me telling the tale of each one.

Carly and Alex were blown away with their presents. They got very little that they asked for, and the PS2 that Lauren and Emily (and Kai and Daniel) bought for them was the most unexpected present. Boxing Day, Kai took Alex with him for a round of golf, and Alex thought all his xmases had come at once. He had a ball. We all had a great couple of days. Few days, because Carly was 13 on December 24 and we all went to lunch at an Italian Restaurant. Later we had a meal with my sister-in-law and 3 nieces and that topped of another lovely day.
